Beer is the most popular drink in Japan, and Japanese sake (rice wine) is the second most popular. Sake is an important part of Shinto religion and Japanese culture. Sake is a clear alcohol drink which is basically made by fermenting steamed rice with koji mold and water. Sake has about 15% alcohol. It’s said that good water and rice make good sake. Sake breweries in Japan are located near some of the best spring water in the world. After rice is washed, soaked, steamed and cooled, fermentation starts by adding koji rice. [ Read the rest ... ]

The East Carolina University Golden Corral Culinary Center was dedicated in February of 2009. The center is the product of a partnership between Golden Corral and East Carolina University.
Golden Corral presented the hospitality management program with a $200,000 gift, which acted a catalyst for the new facility. The center will enhance educational offerings in the food and beverage area and prepare students for careers in the hospitality industry. The center’s focus is the management of the culinary experience, blending the business of hospitality with the creativity and knowledge of food and its preparation and presentation.
